Loving the good weather
We’re very grateful the weather is playing ball at the moment, as it means we can keep making good progress with the groundwork at Ports Creek. Right now, teams are busy clearing and shaping the ground so work can continue on the Flex MSE wall.
So, what exactly is a Flex MSE wall? In simple terms, it’s a smart, flexible structure that uses layers of compacted earth to create a strong, stable wall. Unlike a solid concrete wall, it can move slightly with the ground, helping it cope better with coastal conditions over time. It’s tough, long‑lasting, and designed to blend more naturally into the landscape.
It’s good enough for the King
As we’ve told you, we’ve been laying Breedon gravel to replace the path on the west side of the Eastern Road at Anchorage Park. But have we told you why this particular gravel?
It’s actually been chosen for its strength and coastal-proof credentials. It’s a self-binding limestone that naturally locks together once it’s laid, and it’s ROCK hard. It’s 100% natural and environmentally friendly. Rumour has it, it’s been used in the gardens of Buckingham Palace!
For those of you who are interested in how it’s laid, we’ve actually found a YouTube video which tells you all about it, and it’s actually quite interesting!

Reinstate this gate
As we continue to improve the paths around Anchorage Park, we had to temporarily remove this kissing gate, but don’t worry, we’ve put it back just as we found it.
We’ve also had to set up a compound in the car park next to the Waterside Club and Bar, we will be here until the end of next week. This is for material storage and a welfare unit for our workers on the ground.

Temporary closure of footpath
We’re now moving on to lay Breedon gravel along the coastal path by Milton Common. From Tuesday 14 April, a section of the path will be temporarily closed.
The path is expected to remain closed until the end of May, weather permitting. Signed diversion routes are in place throughout the closure and should be followed when visiting the area.

TLC for Tipner furniture
Can you believe that the Tipner section of the North Portsea Coastal Scheme was completed in 2019?! Where have all those years gone?!
We love the work we’ve done in this area, it’s very popular route and we love to see people enjoying it. We’re not the kind of scheme that creates something and walks away though, and we want all our improvements to look as fabulous as possible, so we’ve been busy cleaning the furniture that we installed here… that way it can look it’s best for the upcoming summer.
