As part of ongoing improvements to the North Portsea Coastal Scheme, work is taking place to upgrade the gravel path at Anchorage Park. These upgrades will create a smoother, higher‑quality route and ensure the coastal path remains in good condition as the wider scheme nears completion.

Key dates and activity

• A small site compound has been set up within Anchorage Park, and this week sections of the path are being fenced off in preparation for the works.
• 23 February – 28 April 2026:
  The main footpath works will take place and the path will be fully closed during this period.
  • A temporary parking suspension will be in place on part of Althorpe Drive to allow lorries to deliver materials to the compound.
  • Once deliveries are complete, the suspension will be lifted until the compound is removed at the end of the programme.
• How the works will progress:
  Two teams will work along the path:
  • one moving west to east from the railway bridge
  • one moving east to west from near Eastern Road
    Completed sections will reopen as soon as they are ready.
    There will also be a short curing period (up to two weeks) where no visible activity takes place while the new surface hardens.
• 1–8 May 2026:
  The site compound will be removed and the area fully cleared.
