We’re pleased to announce that the pedestrian diversion over Portsbridge roundabout car park will be open from today (Friday 4 April).
SGN, who have been carrying out emergency gas work which has stopped the diversion from opening, have confirmed that they have now reinstated access so the temporary pedestrian diversion can be opened this afternoon.
We are opening this shorter informal diversion route as a priority to make it easier for pedestrians to get around the area. You will still see some more activity as the area is tidied up, including minor work on kerbs and replanting trees, over the next few weeks.
The map shows the diversion routes that will now be in place from Friday, 4 April 2025 until our work is complete in December 2025.
We kindly ask cyclists to dismount and push their bikes when using the temporary overpass and appreciate your continued support as we carry out this vital sea defence work.
